“It costs twice as much as gas!”

Jasper (26) and Chloé (24) live with their two daughters, Junifer and Mabel, in a house in Zoutleeuw. This couple of young parents decided to heat themselves with a stove, in order to save energy.

They explain to our colleagues from “Het Belang van Limburg”: “In spring and autumn, we burn wood. In winter, we use coal and our stove stays on continuously for two months. This allows us to keep our house at a pleasant temperature. »

“A 25kg bag of anthracite coal costs us 14 euros and lasts two days. This therefore costs us approximately 200 euros per month. If we used gas, it would definitely be double that amount. Without this stove, we probably wouldn’t be able to turn on the heating every day, despite the fact that we both have jobs,” continues Jasper.

And this stove not only heats them, but also cooks. And as for the water, it is heated with oil or electricity, even thanks to the couple’s two solar panels, who have decided to save as much energy as possible.
