Guava is a cheap nutritious fruit with good flavour, easy to digest, low in calories and useful in reducing weight, as it contains 85% of water, 1% of protein for cell renewal and repair of damaged tissues, and 3% of carbohydrates for energy production, as well as being rich in phosphorous, iron, calcium and magnesium.
It sits on the throne of fruits rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C and A, lycopene, and a bouquet of phenolic compounds that enhance immunity and prevent diseases of age and premature aging, according to what Dr. Magdy Badran, a member of the Egyptian Society of Allergy and Immunology, told “Masrawy”. .
Badran also confirmed that guava is rich in vitamin C, and green guava is richer in vitamin C than white and yellow, providing 228 mg of vitamin C per 100 grams, compared to 40 mg in lemon, vitamin C raises immunity and protects once morest cancer.
Guava contains a small percentage of sugar, helps reduce high blood pressure, lowers harmful cholesterol, strengthens the heart and stimulates blood circulation.
Guava is also low in sodium. High amount of sodium in the body causes high blood pressure and heart disease.
Potassium is present in guava, which is essential for heart health and reducing kidney stones and stroke.
Potassium is important for the contraction of the heart and the regulation of blood pressure, heart rate, and muscle contraction. It contributes to the distribution and regulation of fluids in the body and the stability of water in the blood and tissues. It regulates the balance of acid and alkaline reactions in the blood and limits acidity arising from meat consumption.
Potassium is also important for metabolism, for optimum utilization of food and energy generation. It is an important calming agent, helps build proteins and carbohydrates, and is very important for growth.
