The weeks follow each other and look alike, in Guadeloupe, as for the epidemic of Covid-19. The decline in viral circulation continues, but the virus is still present in the territory; “Omicron’s BA.5 sublineage remains predominant,” say the authorities.
The curve of the viral circulation of Covid-19 continues to decrease, in Guadeloupe, with regard to the indicators of the epidemic recorded during week 40, i.e. from Monday 3 to Sunday 9 October 2022.
Since February, the Omicron variant has been circulating exclusively in Guadeloupe. Its BA.5 sub-lineage has been identified on all the sequences analyzed since the 38th week of the year.
- 318 new positive cases were detected, in the archipelago, out of the 3 082 tests performed, compared to 342 in week 39;
- The incidence rate now amounts to 84,4 pour 100 000 habitantscompared to 90.7 previously (-7%);
- The positivity ratenow from 10,3%also decreases;
- A 65-year-old man died at the University Hospital Center (CHU).
Regarding hospitalizations, there too, an improvement in the situation has been observed.
There were nine visits to the emergency room for suspicion of Covid, five less than the week before. Six patients were admitted to hospital and one person was treated in intensive care.
It should be noted that on October 11, 43 people were on oxygen at their homes; this number has increased.
