Starfield FAQ by Todd Howard – DTF Games

After all, in a “tough” sci-fi game, you would die of cold in space.

A good example: we studied a lot of different types of fuel, the design of gravitational engines … I read scientific papers on quantum physics, on the curvature of space. After all, you cannot simply be transported somewhere, you bend the space “toward yourself”.

We played this version, and decided that this system was too severely punishing the players. The ship was running out of fuel, and it became impossible to continue playing.

So we changed that not too long ago. Now the fuel in your ship and gravity drive only limits how far you can travel at one time. But you don’t run out of fuel.
