Meta has taken advantage of the official launch of its new virtual reality viewer, the Quest Pro, to also announce various updates to their avatars for the metaverse. The main one is that… now they have legs. It may not seem like much, but Zuckerberg says that it has been one of the most requested features by developers.

With this simple change, Meta follows the path that Nintendo already took in its day by giving its Wii Sports avatars legs, which in their first version were also suspicious floating torsos. After a year of hard life without lower limbs, the avatars of Horizon Worlds can finally jump for joy.

Patuecas are not the only change. After being the subject of intense general gossip, Zuckerberg’s avatar (and all the others) has enriched his range of expressions and he can now raise his eyebrows and make new facial expressions. Will a day come when the virtual Zuck looks more human than the natural one? I have no proof, but no doubt either.

Meta has invested more than 10,000 million dollars in its virtual reality platform so far this year, although it has not detailed what percentage of this budget has gone to enrich the lower half of the avatars. The company has already announced that there will be more improvements for these virtual personalities before the end of 2022. Basically, and jokes aside, making the avatars more realistic is necessary if they want them to be interoperable in different applications and games. target has announced more games for the Metaverse, including Among US VR, or Marvel’s Iron Man VR. EThe CEO of Microsoft also has anticipated that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available in the Meta Quest Store. Most of those games require interoperable avatars that are realistic, or at least have legs.
