Souk Larbaa – A medical caravan for breast and cervical cancer screening was organized on Wednesday for the benefit of women residents of the local prison of Souk Larbaa, at the initiative of the Regional Human Rights Commission. man from Rabat-Salé-Kenitra.

Organized in partnership with the regional directorates of health and social protection and the general delegation for prison administration and reintegration (DGAPR) of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, this event is part of the implementation of the annual program of the regional commission of the National Human Rights Council, which has made the right to health one of its priorities.

The program put in place provides for the organization of several medical campaigns in the penitentiary establishments of the region, indicated the member of the commission, Dr Ahmed Sirbou, noting that this series of campaigns are organized in partnership with public actors and health associations.

This initiative is also part of the national “Pink October” campaign for awareness and early detection of breast and cervical cancer, launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, throughout this month, under the theme: “early detection, prevention and protection for your health”.

In this context, today’s medical caravan focuses on the screening, care and treatment of these pathologies in more than 80 women detained at the local prison of Souk Larbaa whose age varies between 30 and 69 years old. , said the head doctor of the service of the network of health establishments at the provincial delegation of health and social protection of Kenitra, Mohammed Lacheheb.

In a statement to M24, MAP’s all-news channel, Lacheheb explained that women between the ages of 30 and 49 are part of the target population for cervical cancer screening, and those aged between 40 and 69 are part of the target population for breast cancer screening.

During this caravan, a team of four doctors, seven nurses, two maintenance technicians and an x-ray technician was mobilized, in addition to a mobile medical unit for the diagnosis of breast cancer sent to the spot, he said. he points out.

For his part, the deputy director of the local prison of Souk Larbaa, Daim Abdelkader indicated that the organization of this caravan is part of the health programs regularly organized by the DGAPR for the benefit of detainees.

It also comes to mark the operationalization of the various strategies of the DGAPR aimed at the humanization of the prison space, he specified at the microphone of M24.

On Thursday, the regional commissions will organize a regional meeting around the thematic report of the CNDH on “the effectiveness of the right to health, challenges and ways of strengthening”, in addition to the signing of a partnership agreement with the Regional Council of the order of doctors of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, it is said.
