Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the situation at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant and the efforts made by the Russian side to ensure the safety of nuclear security, while Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed the UAE’s follow-up to the situation regarding the plant.
During the visit of the UAE President to Russia on Tuesday, the two sides discussed various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The two presidents indicated that the level of these relations is witnessing rapid growth, and they expressed their satisfaction with this continuous growth in relations, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Putin expressed Moscow’s appreciation for the efforts made by the UAE in the Ukrainian crisis, while Abu Dhabi confirmed its readiness to continue mediation efforts, according to “WAM”.
In this context, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed briefed the Russian President on the Ukrainian side’s position on a number of issues.
During the meeting, the Emirati president touched on the possibility of continuing dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, while Putin stressed that Russia is interested in the continuation of the Emirati mediation efforts.
“I am aware of your concerns regarding how the situation will develop in general, and your desire to help solve all contentious issues, including the current crisis,” Putin was quoted by the Bloomberg news agency as saying at the start of the meeting, which was held in St. Petersburg.
