This Saturday, October 15, is the fourteenth edition of the day of the night.
In Alvignac at nightfall, the public will be able to enjoy a great evening outdoors where the starry sky will be the star. If the sky is clear, the planets Saturn then Jupiter will be observable with a 400 mm telescope. Following a presentation of the constellations, awareness of light pollution is on the program.
Later in the evening, the constellation of Orion, and its beautiful nebula M42 (for the connoisseurs) can be observed, and before the Moon is too bright, the planet Mars will also be visible.
If the sky is overcast, a retreat is planned at the Samayou space with presentation of the sky on the big screen and viewing of photos taken with the latest space telescope: the James Webb Space Telescope. But to go further than the aesthetic side of these photos, a debate will open around the question: “Why are scientists interested in them and what do they represent?”
To close the evening, there will be a photo presentation of ACL Gramat members and a free discussion. On the occasion of the day of the night, the public lighting will be switched off. Meet at Espace Samayou at 8:30 p.m. (route de Padirac). Free admission.
