New York ∙ India votes once morest Russian interest in United Nations General Assembly. In the 193-member assembly, 107 countries, including India, rejected Russia’s demand for a secret vote on the draft resolution condemning the annexation of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson provinces to Russia. Only 13 countries favored secret ballot. 39 countries including China abstained. The motion was introduced by Albania.

Russia appealed once morest the action of the President of the General Assembly, who decided that a public vote on the resolution was sufficient. 104 countries including India voted once morest the review while 16 countries voted in favor. 34 countries abstained. With this, the General Assembly decided not to re-examine.

Last month, India abstained from voting on the resolution brought by the Security Council once morest the referendum conducted by Russia in the Ukrainian provinces.
