Patrick Chappatte received an honorary doctorate from ETH Lausanne

Red. / Chappatte’s speech, illustrated with caricatures, in recognition of his honorary doctorate in Lausanne, was a highlight.

up. “Chappatte brings a critical, sharp and intelligent view of our world and defends freedom of expression,” said ETH President Martin Vetterli in his laudatory speech on October 1st.

Chappatte can publish his caricatures in the NZZ am Sonntag, Le Temps, Le Canard enchaîné, in the Spiegel and in the Boston Globe. The New York Times also published his cartoons for a long time.

For ten years, Chappatte also made his cartoons available to Infosperber, until the NZZ publishing house secured all the rights for German-speaking Switzerland for his “magazin.nzz.ch”.

Patrick Chappatte from Geneva gave a pointed 9-minute speech at the ETH Lausanne, peppered with caricatures – also regarding the downsides of modern technology. Federal Councilor Simonetta Sommaruga was also among the listeners.
