‘I’m ‘chilling’ here in heaven…don’t worry!’; Munnas wrote while lying in the cold in the ICU, smiling..

‘Stop grieving more.. I’m a superhero…’ written by Munnas as he lay dying in the cold of the ICU, the words comforting his tearful relatives and friends. Relatives forgot their sorrow in the hopes of twenty-five baby letters written on tissue paper from the hospital bed. Munnas’s family gave an obituary like a Valentine’s Day card in yesterday’s ‘Malayala Manorama’ and said: Death is not only for grieving, friend…

Jose Rainey (Munnas – 25) at Ollur Moylan home survived 3 years of brain tumor, 2 open skull surgeries and chemo and radiation treatments with a smile. Brain tumor is confirmed during covid. Munnas, who has climbed the Alps, went on trips even following he fell ill. After the second surgery, the left side was paralyzed. Even though the journey was interrupted, the smile did not disappear.

While the nurses were shaving her hair for surgery, she took a smiling selfie and sent it to relatives and friends. Letters on tissue paper were handed over to the treating doctor and physiotherapist. The last note reads: ‘I know I’m not there to ‘chill’ with you anymore. I’m ‘chilling’ here in heaven. Don’t worry!’
