Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police, accompanied by Lt. Colonel Pilot Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Director of the Special Patrols Department in the Criminal Security Sector, General Supervisor of the Police Legacy Department of the Protocol and Public Relations Department of Abu Dhabi Police, inspected the developments of the construction project of Al Maqtaa Museum during His visit to the new site of the museum in the Maqta Bridge area in Abu Dhabi.
Major General Al Sharifi stressed the keenness and interest of the Abu Dhabi Police General Command to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of the police and the stages of its development in the emirate, which is embodied in the museum’s holdings, in continuous cooperation with government bodies and departments concerned with culture and heritage.
Lt. Colonel Pilot Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan said: “Al Maqtaa Fort is one of the most important historical buildings in the city of Abu Dhabi, as it includes a police department on the mainland in the late fifties of the last century for the purpose of monitoring traffic to and from the island, and is a witness to the development urbanization in the city.
During the tour, Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi listened to an explanation of the various stages the project has reached, praising the efforts of the Police Legacy Department and its interest in following up on the completion of the project, which is one of the most prominent heritage, cultural and historical projects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
