World Federation of Mental Health: The Corona pandemic taught us the meaning of mental disorder

Nasser Loza, president of the World Federation of Mental Health, said that the Corona pandemic taught him the meaning of mental disorder.

And he added, during a telephone interview with the “Hadrat Al-Citizen” program on the “Al-Hadath Al-Youm” screen, on Monday evening, that he suffered from psychological depression following Corona, and a doctor treated him, stressing that the doctor might not treat himself.

Loza pointed out that mental health is related to the quality of a calm life and dealing with others with a kind of psychological stability.

He pointed out that there is a stigma attached to those exposed to mental illness, calling for addressing this stigma that has persisted for many years.

He noted that the stigma makes many people refrain from going to a psychiatrist to seek treatment, stressing the importance of learning how to improve the lifestyle, especially accepting others and accepting different points of view.

Today, Monday, October 10, is World Mental Health Day, during which the World Health Organization is trying to spread awareness among people regarding diseases and mental disorders, especially following the economic and psychological problems caused by the Corona pandemic.
