A CCI4*-L eventing tournament was held in Virginia from October 5th to 9th. Tamra Smith won, followed by William Coleman and Mia Farley (all for USA).
After only receiving 29.3 penalty points in dressage, Tamra Smith and her eleven-year-old mare Solaguayre California completed the cross-country stretches without any mistakes and only slightly overtime (0.4 points). Tamra Smith rode into the show jumping course with 29.7 points following dressage and cross-country and came out once more without any mistakes. In doing so, she secured victory in the long eventing test at four-star level. It’s not the couple’s first major success. In July, the two placed z. B. second place in the CCI4*-S in Kalispell (USA) with a total of 34.7 points.
Close on their heels were William Coleman and his Holsteiner gelding Chin Tonic following dressage with 29.4 points, which by the way is not related to Julia Krajewski’s young Busch crack of the same name. After the time errors in cross-country (2.8) and in jumping (0.4), Coleman’s gap to the winner increased once more, with a total of 32.6 points it was still enough for second place. The fact that the ten-year-old gelding can also win was shown in April in Aiken SC in the CCI4*-S and recently in the CCI3*-S, which he and his rider William Coleman won with just 18.5 points.
Third place found Mia Farley with Phelps. Phelps is a nine-year-old gelding that she has had under saddle since 2019. The team was particularly successful last year, where they also came third in the CCI3*-S in Unionville PA and Allentown NJ. Her total score of 34.4 points was already clear following the dressage, as she stayed clear in cross-country and jumping in terms of time and obstacles. In addition, Farley and Phelps showed a perfect cross country round without any jumping and time errors.
