In Dragonflight, “Mythic+” becomes even harder, the best loot harder to get

Dungeons will be in WoW: Dragonflight really hard once more. At least if you want the best equipment.

If you want to get the best endgame gear in World of Warcraft, there are a number of ways to do it. In addition to raids, PvP and some nice pieces of crafting, the best loot is mainly found in the “Mythic+” dungeons. Previously, completing a dungeon at level “+15” was enough to get the best possible loot.

In the next expansion Dragonflight that will be different. You have even higher dungeons to complete – and the overall difficulty increases even further.

What happens in Dragon Flight? In the past, clearing at least one Mythic+15 difficulty dungeon was required to get the best gear from the weekly reward box. In Dragonflight, however, this requirement continues to increase, requiring at least one Mythic+20 difficulty dungeon. So it’s getting harder to get the best gear through dungeons. You can see the rewards for each level here:

Keystone Level Dungeon Box (iLvL) Weekly Crate (iLvL)
+2 376 382
+3 376 385
+4 379 385
+5 379 389
+6 382 389
+7 385 392
+8 385 395
+9 389 395
+10 392 398
+11 392 402
+12 392 405
+13 392 408
+14 395 408
+15 398 411
+16 398 415
+17 402 415
+18 402 418
+19 405 418
+20 405 421

This is accompanied by the change that you can upgrade items with bravery points one step further. However, a dungeon rating of 2,400 is then required to reach this highest level. You can see the necessary ratings here:

upgrade level Item-Level Necessary rating
1 376 none
2 379 none

11 408 1.700
12 411 2.000
13 415 2.400

Why are the dungeons getting harder? Another adjustment is scaling, which makes dungeons more difficult at higher levels. Currently, increasing the difficulty with each level increases enemy health and damage done by 8%. With Dragonflight, that’s only up to Mythic+10. From Mythic+11, both stats increase by 10% per keystone level.

In plain language this means: All dungeons from level +11 are even harder than before and you notice every increase in the keystone much more clearly.

Why is Blizzard doing this? In recent seasons, “Mythic+” has established itself as the relatively easy way to get good gear quickly. It was often much easier to just run a few Mythic+15 dungeons with a good party than to join a heroic raid. Blizzard wants to reconcile these different systems a bit more in terms of their difficulty.

For the same reason, there is a completely new set of dungeons with every season in Dragonflight, in other words: In “Season 2” of Dragonflight there is no dungeon that you have already visited in “Season 1” of Dragonflight. As a result, “Mythic +” fans have to adjust to completely new dungeons and the strategies that go with them. So you experience a similar “approach to new content” as is the case with raiders.

What do you think of this change? Good adjustments to keep Mythic+ exciting and interesting? Or will they ruin your favorite game mode?
