Said, 48, was arrested in connection with the murder of Diana

Things are progressing in the case of Diana Santos, this 40-year-old woman whose dismembered and decapitated body was discovered by young people on September 19 in Mont-Saint-Martin (France), a town located close to the Belgian border, just next to Aubange. An absolutely horrific scene.

The dismembered body lay naked on a pile of rubbish at the back of a building. The body had been found by a teenager who was looking for a quiet place to urinate.

Diana’s husband’s uncle arrested

Three weeks later, things are progressing rapidly. Indeed, the investigation by the Luxembourg judicial police made it possible to identify, apprehend and imprison a person suspected of being involved in Diana’s homicide.

And according to our colleagues from Contacto, this person would be named Said B., a 48-year-old man of Moroccan origin.

This individual would be the uncle of the husband of Diana Santos, named Gibran B. The couple rented a house in Diekirch (Luxembourg).

Why was Diana Santos killed? And above all, why was she dismembered? The investigation currently underway will attempt to answer these two questions.

Apparently, João, the ex-boyfriend of the victim, would have his own idea on the subject. The latter would have declared in the press that Diana Santos had recently married for money.

Married for money

Still according to the words of this ex-boyfriend, she would have received the promise to receive the sum of 45,000 € in order to marry Gibran B., of Moroccan origin. Obviously, the purpose of this maneuver was that the latter might obtain Portuguese nationality thanks to this marriage. And this, so that he thus becomes a European citizen free to move regarding everywhere in the Union.

However, it turns out that Diana Santos would never have seen the color of the money that had been promised to her. According to our colleagues from RTL Luxembourg, she would have received only 20,000 € of the promised sum… In the meantime, the couple had settled in a house in Diekirch.

Despite her status as a married woman, Diana Santos would have continued to maintain a relationship with her ex-boyfriend, João… Nevertheless, the latter denies any involvement in the murder of the latter and points the finger at Said B., the uncle of the Diana’s husband.

“What I know is that the latter said she was his or nobody’s,” he told a Portuguese newspaper.

Said was presented this Friday to the investigating judge of Diekirch who issued a committal order, the accused being thus currently in pre-trial detention at the Penitentiary Center of Schrassig (Luxembourg). The alleged perpetrator was charged primarily with murder (art. 394 of the Luxembourg Penal Code) and secondarily with murder (art. 393 of the Penal Code).

Ongoing investigation

The Luxembourg judicial investigation is continuing and numerous checks are in progress.

In order not to prejudice the investigative measures in progress, the Diekirch public prosecutor’s office does not communicate any other information for the moment and wishes to recall that “any person targeted by an investigation or criminal proceedings is presumed innocent as long as his guilt has not been recognized by a final decision of the competent lower court”.

Did Said B. play a role in the death and/or dismemberment of Diana Santos? That will be for the courts to determine. It is not known so far whether Gibran, Diana’s husband and Said’s nephew, had the opportunity to testify in this case.
