You probably noticed it too, there was an earthquake at 12:25 p.m. that suddenly shook Martinique. The tremor was short but was felt at François, Vauclin, Rivière-Pilote and even Marin.
According to the OVSM (volcanological and seismological observatory of Martinique), it is an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 which was recorded. It has been identified as being of tectonic origin. The epicenter was located 18km southeast of Sainte-Anne and 26km deep. Depending on the type of soil, the intensities may have locally reached the intensity of IV which means that it has been widely felt.
This week, the volcanologists of the OVSM counted 14 earthquakes under the Pelean massif.
