Almost everyone knows her as Elisa Martoranobut his real surname is Lion Lounge by Martorano. The same thing happened with his father – with whom he has shared a profession – who was popularly known in Olavarría as the Doctor Threshing when he was really surnamed León y Trilla.
Verbosy and supportive, the Doctor Leon of Martorano He has practiced medicine for more than 50 years. What Gynecologist and Obstetrician has brought hundreds, thousands of people from Olavarri into the world. Her patients remember her fondly and highlight the close relationship she has had with them. She has always been more than a doctor.
“A happy childhood”
Elisa was born on May 8, 1940 in his house located in General Paz between Moreno and Lamadrid. Then she did high school at National School and right there he met his great love, Edberto Cesar Martoranowith whom he would marry and have three children: two boys and one girl.

They met at school and never parted ways. They lived together in Buenos Aires and returned when she finished her medical degree. Dedicated to the sale of medicine items, she passed away in 2010. “It was such a hard blow that I didn’t even realize”. Her face lights up when she names him. “It is unique and unrepeatable.”
Medicine: almost a causality
Elisa Leon Lounge was not originally going to be a doctor. Her first choice was something else: engineering. “It was not easy for women to study at that time. We went to a boarding school for some Spanish laywomen, many of the Olavarría were there. And there were people from other places, it was very nice, we got along very well, ”he recalls regarding those first moments in the big city.
“But one day I came to my house to visit and told my dad that I didn’t like it, that it didn’t fill me up. I wanted to go to the field. He told me to choose another career. I replied that I was going to study Medicine, if I did well in the first subject, I would continue, if not I would return and live in the country. And there he gave me two options: study or study”.

Looking back, he had always flirted with Medicine. “I always helped my dad in the office. I helped him with the paperwork. He was going to make visits and I accompanied him and stayed in the car”, he recounts regarding his childhood. “I think I started Medicine because it was the only career I saw at home”he adds.
Finally, she passed her first subject with a 9 and fate wanted her to end up being a doctor. He finished his studies in December 1965 and a year later he received the long-awaited diploma, a source of pride for his entire family.
“I was on duty at the Durán Hospital and a doctor told me that I had to be an anesthesiologist. I answered no, that I wanted to have children”. And that is how he decided on Gynecology and Obstetrics. As had his father.
Back in Olavarría, had his office in his house, to be able to take care of his children while he attended. “Already when the boys were older, I put the office in my dad’s office. And I stayed. I finished my career in the office of the house where I was born ”, closes the cycle of his professional life.
“Before medicine, the field. I loved the countryside because my grandmother taught me to love it”, he says and her eyes light up once more. But the profession also gave him “the joy of working here.” “Medicine gave me the workplace. The profession gave me happiness, it allowed me to live and it allowed me to meet good people”, he concludes.
And it has also given him recognition of all kinds. In 2009 she was distinguished as “Innovative Woman” by Chamber of Senators of the Province of Buenos Aires. Last year They named the Lalcec Gynecology office following him. “Ivonne Oliveto came, who is the director now, and she told me that she had to go to a meeting. It was the middle of a pandemic, I was not going anywhere. She told me: ‘make yourself pretty, don’t just go like that’” she tells regarding the surprise she got from her when she met her children there for her well-deserved tribute.
a diverse life
“My life has been diverse, I did not only work in medicine”, summarizes regarding his eighty-odd years. In addition to being a doctor, she has been a teacher. While she was studying she was an assistant in a chair at the UBA. Later, in Olavarría, she continued with the great work of teaching.

“I did teaching because I was passionate. She was teaching with Dr. Cohendoz. He did the camps with Professor Lagreyze. We went by train doing medicine and I got to know the country. I met many places. What a beauty!” she recalls with a smile on her face.
Definitely, taught at the National, Commercial and Rosario schools. In addition, he worked as a teacher at the La Plata School of Nursing. While, in the School of Agriculture She shared the position of Physician and with that of Professor of Hygiene and Industrial Safety.
The woman behind the doctor
In addition to being a renowned doctor in our city, Elisa has been a daughter and a wife, she is a proud mother and grandmother, a friend and a sister.. “I have two friends from life. One that I met when she was 6 years old and she was 8. She lives in La Plata. And the second, she is from Buenos Aires. I met her in the first medical class. They are my sisters for life. And I want to go see them.” The pandemic prevented him from being close to them for almost three years, but the bond is maintained through her cell phone.
Great storyteller, she has countless stories to rescue. She is the daughter of a Spanish immigrant, in 2008 he went to the old continent to meet his paternal cousins. “One day they told me that they were looking from Spain for the daughters of Doctor Trilla. Since my father had been Director of the Hospital, they had found a way to communicate. I didn’t know how to use a computer but I had one at home. And there I got in touch with my cousins”, he tells Let us know.
“I went to the University where my father studied and I thought ‘my old man must have had a coffee here'”.
“It was so beautiful that I never stop cutting how nice it happened to me. We were regarding 20, from different places and we met in Madrid”, he recounts regarding the meeting between cousins. On that same trip he was able to meet the Valladolid regarding which his father had told him so much. “I went to the University where my father studied and I thought ‘my old man must have had a coffee here'”.
As if all this journey were not enough, his mother was born in the house where the Conservatory of Music. And she lived there for a few months before buying the house from her. “When she was named Ernesto Mogávero I was very happy. I told the boys that my mother was born in that house. Professor Mogávero used to come from Buenos Aires to that house once a week to teach the Lounge girls. That house is full of music forever”.
