Videos of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visiting a local market in Chennai in search of lettuce stalks have gone viral. At 7:30 last night, the Finance Minister along with the security personnel came to Mylapore market to buy vegetables. After the initial surprise, the merchant women and locals celebrated the Finance Minister’s arrival by inviting them for tea and taking selfies with the VIPs.
The women selling vegetables on the roadside near the Kapaleshwara temple got scared when the gunmen came running. VVIP walked in like a normal woman when she was in awe of what was going to happen. After Kusalan investigation, he wanted spinach. The vendor said that the spinach asked by the finance minister was not in stock. Then the finance minister himself brought sorghum, red spinach and another leafy vegetable from the attic.
Meanwhile, people gathered around recognizing the VVIP. Nirmala Sitharaman spent 20 minutes in the market following talking to women. Some of the people gathered around to drink a coffee from the nearby hotel. But the Finance Minister hurriedly came down saying that it was time to go to Delhi.
