Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–Some people usually resort to adding olive oil to their food in abundance, as they believe that it contains fewer calories than other oils and fats.
However, this information is only a rumour.
The World Health Organization in the Sultanate of Oman explained, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, that healthy fats, such as olive oil, contain a high percentage of calories, which contribute to weight gain.
Therefore, it is recommended to consume it in moderation.
And the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection explained in an Instagram post that extra virgin olive oil contains more antioxidants, compared to refined types of olive oil.
She pointed out that the reason is due to its cold pressing within 24 hours of the first picking of the olives.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection added that some types of oils enhance the health of the heart and blood vessels, and also reduce the risk of sudden attacks.
