The General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment holds many activities and events across all its hospitals in the governorates of Egypt on the occasion of the celebration of the World Mental Health Day, which falls on the tenth of October each year.
The celebration begins on October 9 by lighting the Cairo Tower in green (which is the color of the World Day’s logo), as well as lighting all 21 hospitals affiliated with the Municipality in 15 governorates.
Assiut Hospital for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment will host a scientific symposium on Monday morning, October 10, in which the opening speech will be given by Dr. Manen Abdel-Maqsoud, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, in which Dr. Wajih Abdel Nasser, Professor of Psychiatry at Assiut University will lecture on “Awareness of the phenomenon of suicide.” Then followed by a lecture by Dr. Alaa Darwish, Professor of Psychiatry at Assiut University, entitled “What’s New in the Treatment of Addiction”. After the symposium, Dr. Manen Abdel-Maqsoud will inaugurate a new addiction treatment department and a psychiatric clinic in the hospital.
Simultaneously, the Amana hospitals (Abbasiya, Heliopolis, Helwan, Khanka, Banha, Tanta, Shabraqas in Gharbia governorate, Azazi in Sharqia governorate, Damira in Dakahlia governorate, Shebin El-Kom, Maamoura, Assiut, Alwan in Assiut governorate, Sohag and Aswan governorates) are holding celebrations by holding many Among the scientific activities such as educational seminars for patients and their families inside hospitals, and holding a seminar with Al-Azhar scholars in the Directorate of Endowments in Assiut Governorate, in addition to recreational activities for children who frequent clinics in hospitals, as well as cultural and artistic activities, recreational games and competitions in hospitals, as well as holding a running marathon inside the Matrix Club organized by Tanta Hospital outside The hospital, a marathon in Assiut and another sports marathon inside Khanka Hospital, and football matches for patients.
The celebration of World Mental Health Day in hospitals begins at ten in the morning next Monday and ends at two in the followingnoon.
A boat show will also be held on the Nile in Assiut, and another in the Cairo Nile on the same evening.
