Billionaire Elon Musk believes that it is possible to end the tension between China and Taiwan, by handing Taipei to Beijing some control of Taiwan.

Days following touting a possible deal to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, billionaire Elon Musk saw the possibility of ending tensions between China and Taiwan by handing Beijing some control of Taiwan.

“My proposal is to designate a special administrative region for Taiwan, which is reasonably palatable, and probably not everyone will like,” Musk said in an interview with the Financial Times published on Friday.

Musk’s comments came in response to a question from the newspaper regarding China, where the electric car company “Tesla”, which he owns, runs a large factory in Shanghai.

“It is possible, and in fact likely likely, that the two sides will have a more lenient arrangement than is in place in Hong Kong,” Musk added.

Musk added that he believes that “a conflict over Taiwan is inevitable,” warning of its “potential impact not only on Tesla, but also on Apple, which makes iPhones, and on the economy more broadly.”

And last week, Musk suggested that Ukraine permanently cede Crimea to Russiathat new referendums be held under the auspices of the United Nations, to determine the fate of the territories controlled by Russia, and that Ukraine agree to become a neutral country.

Musk asked Twitter users for their views on his plan, which drew sharp criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
