Sources in the Electricity of Lebanon told “Lebanon 24” today, Saturday, that the company’s board of directors is heading to increase the kilowatt-hour tariff,
She added: “The council’s decision leads to raising the tariff to 10 cents for the first 100 kilowatt-hours, while the tariff will become 27 cents for consumption that comes following the first 100 kilowatt-hours and for all other tariffs.”
The sources indicated that this matter is subject to a basic condition, which is that the electricity consumption bills are paid by all public administrations and institutions, with a value of regarding $230 million annually, and that the Lebanese state pays the cost of purchasing Iraqi fuel.
And she continued: “If these two measures are not taken, the tariff will become 37 cents instead of 27 cents. As for the fixed fees, it will be 30% more than it was in cents before the financial crisis.”
She concluded: “It is worth noting that the tariff will be adjusted every month or two according to the fluctuations in oil prices and the exchange rate at the Banque du Liban.”
