Abidjan, Oct 08, 2022 (AIP)-The “Heart of Grace” Foundation organized, Thursday, October 06, 2022, a training seminar for nurses and midwives on the management of arterial hypertension (HTA) in Toumodi.
A total of 30 nurses and midwives from the Toumodi health district were trained in therapeutic strategies or treatments for hypertension.
At the end of the training, the Secretary General of the Foundation, Esther Desarmes Douyeré, expressed her satisfaction with the participants for their attendance.
According to her, the training will provide participants with the basics necessary to effectively manage high blood pressure and to detect complications, to know when to refer patients to specialists, to increase screening for the disease and to improve the prevention of major cardiovascular risk factors.
The training for this module was provided by cardiologist, hypertensiologist, angiologist and sleep apnea specialist, Charles Philippe Zobo. This training, which benefited from the partnership of the Orange Côte d’Ivoire Foundation, thus enables participants to administer to hypertensive patients treatment with drugs and not.
With a hospital prevalence rate of 25 to 30%, hypertension is the leading cause of premature death and disability worldwide.
Unrecognized or poorly treated, the disease can cause serious damage to the brain, heart, eyes, arteries and kidneys to constitute a source of complications leading to early invalids or death.
The “Heart of Grace” Foundation is a non-profit association whose purpose is to promote the health of the heart and blood vessels in Côte d’Ivoire.
