Shortly following Liverpool was announced as the venue for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), many hotels in the English city were fully booked. The “Booking.com” website said just over half an hour following the announcement on Friday evening that 99 percent of the accommodations were no longer available on the searched travel dates for the main event on May 13, 2023.
Accommodation in the city center that had not yet been reserved was sometimes offered for a single night for more than 2,300 euros. On Saturday, the price for the few available offers was already more than double.
The hometown of the Beatles prevailed on Friday in the last round in the race to host the major event once morest Glasgow in Scotland. Actually, the ESC should have been held in Ukraine following the victory of the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra. But because of the war, the home of runner-up Sam Ryder was put in charge. Liverpool City Council has announced that Ukrainian culture will be at the forefront of celebrations in the city. Mayor Joanne Anderson spoke of the “best party ever”.
