It is rare in Russia to publicly humiliate the new military high-level deputy governor of Hesson state: the defense minister should commit suicide after losing the war

The deputy governor appointed following Russia annexed Ukraine’s Khsson state suggested today that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu should commit suicide for the loss of the war, a rare public humiliation of military high-level officials in Russia since the start of the war. Archyde.com reported that the Russian-Ukrainian war has been going on for more than seven months, and Russia’s most basic war goals have not been achieved. In recent months, it has suffered a series of battlefield defeats, forcing Russian President Vladimir Putin to order local mobilization.

Kirill Stremousov, the Moscow-appointed deputy governor of the Kherson region, publicly slammed Russia’s “generals and ministers” for not understanding front-line issues in a four-minute video.

Stremusov, 45, said: “As many have said: If a defence minister is letting things go like this, he should kill himself as an official. But you also know that the word ‘officer’ is very important to many people. It’s hard for people to understand.”

This kind of public insult and condemnation of Putin’s military high-level officials in the Russian system was extremely rare in the past, but the Russian army’s repeated defeats on the battlefield caused some of Putin’s allies to be unable to hold back and berate senior generals.

Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of the Chechen Republic, and Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner Group, a Russian mercenary organization, ridiculed the Russian generals, saying that the army is full of nepotism and should be promoted Senior officers let them go barefoot on the front lines to atone for their sins.

Sergei Shoigu, who became defense minister in 2012, is one of Putin’s closest allies, so close that the two often spend vacations together in the forests and mountains of Shoigu’s hometown of Tuva.

The Russian Defense Ministry declined to comment on the report.

Many Russian nationalists have repeatedly criticized Xiao Yigu and his top generals for everything from poor planning and weak logistics to downright outdated tactics and an information war lost despite Putin’s heavy investment.
