Spike Chunsoft has released new details regarding Master Detective Archives : RAIN CODEincluding information regarding the setting, characters, gameplay mechanics, and other game basics. The Lucid-Noir Adventure Game from the creators of the Danganronpa series is slated for release in spring 2023.
Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE takes place in Kanai Ward, a strange town where it rains constantly. The city is divided into several neighborhoods, each with a different vibe. Kanai Ward is also the headquarters of a megacorporation. The city and the society have developed in parallel, but for some time the city has been under the control of the megacorporation. The government does not function properly, and due to its isolation, there is little interference from the outside world. In Kanai Ward, no one can stand once morest the megacorporation, which leaves many mysteries unsolved.
Characters
Yuma Kokohead
The protagonist suffers from amnesia. His past is unknown, but he is in possession of documents indicating that he was sent to Kanai Ward as a trainee detective with an agency in the city. He participates in ongoing investigations. A lack of self-confidence results in a tendency to complain frequently. However, he possesses a strong sense of justice and selflessly tries to help anyone in need.
Shinigami
A god of death hired to haunt Yuma. She usually appears in her spiritual form. Only visible to Yuma, Shinigami constantly floats and moves alongside him. Although cheerful and talkative, this god of death’s sense of morality is far removed from that of humans. His words and actions sometimes baffle Yuma. In the Labyrinth of Mysteries, she transforms into a humanoid form and has the power to intervene in affairs.
Master Detectives

As you progress through the Labyrinth of Mysteries, you will encounter Mystery Ghosts in Death Matches. Mystery ghosts are the embodiment of the will of the person trying to cover up the matter and prevent the truth from coming to light. They stand before you and oppose your deductions.
In a Mortal Match of Reasoning, it is vital to identify contradictions while dodging the claims of a mysterious ghost. Face the contradictions with evidence and kill the mystery ghost with the solution blade to defeat him.
Mysterious ghosts appear as characters in the game, but the person represented by the mysterious ghost is not necessarily the culprit. In some cases, the mystery ghost is the embodiment of the will of the person trying to cover up the case for reasons other than being the culprit.
