A Florida man is facing charges following kidnapping his girlfriend’s baby and using it as a human shield in an attempt to evade arrest.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Brandon Douglas Leohner, 27, for the September 27 incident in which he allegedly led law enforcement on a chase that ended in a restaurant parking lot. McDonald’s, following it was reported that he had kidnapped his baby.
Strong body camera footage from officers shows Leohner holding the boy, who is wearing only diapers, as he confronts officers.
The man received an electric shock following refusing to hand over the baby and ended up falling to the ground with the little one in his arms.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with kidnapping, use of a minor as a shield, resistance with violence, abandonment of minors, flight and evasion, and reckless driving.
