A woman from Würzburg took part in the traditional Ironman in Hawaii on Friday night. The triathlete Laura Zimmermann from SV Würzburg 05 finished in 26th place. The 32-year-old was the third best of seven German starters.
The Ironman Hawaii is a triathlon and was held for the first time in 1978. The Ironman has been held annually since 1982. The athletes swim 3.8 kilometers, cycle 180 kilometers and then run 42.2 kilometers. The Ironman Hawaii is considered the mother of all triathlons.
