Things are progressing in the case of Diana Santos, this 40-year-old woman whose dismembered and decapitated body was discovered by young people on September 19 in Mont-Saint-Martin (France), a town located close to the Belgian border, just next to Aubange. An absolutely horrific scene. The dismembered body lay naked on a pile of rubbish at the back of a building.
Three weeks later, things are progressing by leaps and bounds. Indeed, the investigation by the Luxembourg judicial police made it possible to identify and apprehend a person suspected of being involved in Diana’s homicide.
The person in question, a 48-year-old man, was arrested on Thursday by the judicial police. The investigation will have to demonstrate if he is indeed the author of this horrible murder.

He was presented this Friday to the examining magistrate of Diekirch who issued a warrant of committal, the accused thus being currently in pre-trial detention at the Penitentiary Center of Schrassig (Luxembourg). The alleged perpetrator was charged primarily with murder (art. 394 of the Luxembourg Penal Code) and secondarily with murder (art. 393 of the Penal Code).
The victim might be identified by two tattoos and the identification was confirmed by DNA analysis. This is a woman of Portuguese origin who was domiciled in Diekirch (Luxembourg), but who had lived for a time in Athus (commune of Aubange). Following his identification, the Diekirch prosecutor had requested the Nancy prosecutor’s office to report the case to him, which was done on Friday September 30, 2022. An investigation was opened.
The Luxembourg judicial investigation is continuing and numerous checks are in progress.
In order not to prejudice the investigative measures in progress, the Diekirch public prosecutor’s office is not communicating any other information for the moment and wishes to recall that “any person targeted by an investigation or criminal proceedings is presumed innocent as long as his guilt has not been recognized by a final decision of the competent lower court”.
