Uvalde school district suspends its entire police department

In the Uvalde school shooting in which 19 children and two teachers were killed, the entire police force in charge of school security has been suspended. The action comes following widespread criticism of the security forces in the May 24 shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas, USA. The action is following five months. Two officials who were in charge of the school at the time of the incident have also been instructed to go on leave.

The unexpected move of taking action once morest the officials comes following a month has passed since the start of the new academic year. The Texas Department of Public Safety has already deployed troopers to the school for this year. The authorities announced the action stating that there will be no compromise in the safety of the school staff or students during the change of personnel.

Action was taken once morest the policemen following continuous protests by the parents and relatives of the students who were killed in the firing. Earlier, parents gathered around the school demanding that other children were going to school and that they should not be harmed.
