Jakarta – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are expected to attend the G20 summit in Indonesia next month. This is the first time that the two leaders have shared the stage since the start of the war.

The Indonesian ambassador to the UAE said the two leaders had agreed to attend the November 15 and 16 summit, but neither Russia nor Ukraine responded. The US has said that if Putin attends, Zelensky should attend as well. US President Joe Biden is also likely to hold talks with the Russian president during the summit.

Ukraine and the UAE, which are not members of the organization, have been specially invited to the summit, which is attended by 20 leading countries of the world. Presiding Indonesian President Joko Widodo hopes the summit will be a platform to get Russia and Ukraine to agree to a ceasefire and encourage grain exports. The 2023 summit will be held in New Delhi.

Russian offensive continues in Zaporizhia
