Dr. André Lacroix receives the 2022 Prize for Scientific Work

The 2022 Prize for Scientific Work was presented to Professor André Lacroix of the Department of Medicine at the University of Montreal at the annual medical conference of Médecins francophones du Canada on October 20.

With this award, the association celebrates its 42-year career dedicated to endocrinology as a physician, clinician-researcher and seasoned scientist. As a teacher, Dr.r Lacroix has made a brilliant contribution to the excellence of medical education not only in Quebec, but also on the international scene.

Pillar of the endocrinology department of the University of Montreal Hospital Center (CHUM), the researcher of the CHUM Research Center has acquired expertise in pituitary-adrenal diseases, including syndrome de Cushing. His work has made it possible to understand the molecular and genetic mechanisms at the origin of adrenocortical tumors and hyperplasia.

Among other accomplishments, he unearthed the causative gene familial genetic forms of primary hyperplasia, opening the way to early genetic screening and prevention of the morbid effects of this disease.
