The head of McLaren Racing, Zack Brown, believes that a violation of the financial regulations, if proven, should be punished no less severely than a technical violation.
Zach Brown: “The FIA was supposed to hand out certificates on Wednesday, and now everything has been postponed to Monday. So, for some reason they are not ready. According to rumors, one or two teams did not follow the rules. I don’t know if this is true, but if so, the sanctions should be appropriate.
Cost limits are crucial, we have to make sure the rules are respected and if someone breaks them, use the appropriate penalties – not only financial, but also sporting and technical.
For violation of sports or technical regulations, they are severely fined, and so it should be with financial regulations. Spending more than allowed by the rules gives the team an unfair advantage and must be dealt with quickly and hard.”
