“He is the perfect partner for Verstappen”

The performance of Czech Perez at the Singapore Grand Prix continues to generate positive reactions.

Checo Pérez started on the Marina Bay street circuit from second position, but quickly took over first place and just managed to finish as champion of the Singapore GP.

The way in which the Mexican controlled the race was recognized by Mika Hakkinen, who was Formula 1 champion in 1998 and 1999.

The Finnish driver stressed that Checo Pérez takes responsibility at Red Bull when Max Verstappen is not accompanied by the results.

“When Max doesn’t win, Checo is waiting to jump in. This has been his second victory of the year and he has reminded us all why is the perfect companion for Max”, Hakkinen declared for the Unibet site.

Regarding the control carried out by the man from Guadalajara in the Marina Bay circuit, Hakkinen praised him.

“Checo Pérez did a brilliant job for Red Bull, he had a perfect race, snatching the lead from Charles Leclerc at the start, controlling the race, making no mistakes and leading the team to victory”, he pointed out.

In addition, Hakkinen is confident that Red Bull and Checo Pérez will be able to celebrate with Max Verstappen the title of Formula 1 champion during the Japanese Grand Prix.

“I have no doubt that Red Bull will adapt to the Suzuka circuit and that Max can take the title, they just have to make sure they don’t make any more mistakes,” concluded the Finn.
