Al-Marsad Newspaper: Consultant Endocrinology and Pediatrics, Dr. Abdel Moeen Al-Agha, stressed the need to be careful in using cups, whether plastic or cardboard, because of the health damage they may cause to humans.
When asked, during an intervention on the “Yahla” program on the “Rotana Gulf” channel, regarding the harm of cardboard cups compared to their plastic counterparts, he said: “The cups depend on the materials they are made of, and if they contain polyethylene, they are safe, whether they are in cups or glass containers. And if they contain unsafe materials such as polystyrene, the harm of these containers is great, especially if they are exposed to hot materials such as tea and coffee.”
Al-Agha pointed out that the damage caused by the use of plastic or cardboard cups does not depend only on the material they are made of, but also on the materials in which they are used.
