Even the phone is making noises… After Motorola, Xiaomi’s Smartphones

After Motorola, a subsidiary of China’s Lenovo, introduced the world’s first 200-megapixel smartphone in August, Xiaomi succeeds the baton.
According to foreign media such as Cnet on the 6th, Xiaomi will start selling the new smartphone ’12T Pro’ on the 13th of this month. The 12T Pro equipped with Samsung Electronics’ image sensor ‘ISOCell HP1’ features a 200-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
200 million pixels is by far the best among the currently released smartphone cameras. It is close to twice that of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S22 Ultra (108 million pixels) released this year, and regarding four times as large as Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max model (48 million pixels), which will be released in Korea this month.
In addition to the high image quality, high-speed shooting is also of a high standard. This is because Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8+ 1st generation chipset is adopted for the application processor (AP), and it supports 12GB of RAM. According to the overseas IT tipster (information leaker) Ice Universe, it can shoot 30 photos per second, and when the Galaxy S22 Ultra took 5 photos, the 12T Pro took 11 photos.
In addition, the 12T Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display and supports 446ppi pixel density and 120Hz refresh rate. The battery capacity is 5000 milliamp-hours (mAh). The fast charging speed is 120 watts (W), and it can be charged up to 100% from a discharged state in regarding 20 minutes. The price starts at 750 euros.

The image sensor ‘ISOCELL HP3’ unveiled by Samsung Electronics in June. It is equipped with 200 million pixels with a size of 0.56 micrometers (μm, one millionth of a meter), which is the smallest level in the industry. The pixel size is 12% smaller than that of existing products, so the size of the camera module can be reduced by up to 20%. [사진 출처 = 삼성전자]

Meanwhile, the 12T Pro is not the ‘first 200 million pixel smartphone’. This is because, according to overseas IT media Sam Mobile, in August, Motorola, a subsidiary of China’s Lenovo, launched the ‘X30 Pro’ and ‘Edge 30 Ultra’ equipped with a 200-megapixel camera in China and India, respectively. Both products also contain Samsung Electronics’ ISOCELL HP1 chip.
Samsung Electronics is expected to install a 200-megapixel camera in the Galaxy S23 (tentative name) series, which is expected to be released next year. Ice Universe said in a social networking service (SNS) last month, “The Galaxy S23 Ultra will be equipped with a 200-megapixel camera,” and “This information has been 100% confirmed.”
Earlier, in June, Samsung Electronics unveiled a new image sensor ‘ISOCELL HP3’, which reduced the pixel size to the industry’s smallest level, and whether it will be installed in the Galaxy S23 Ultra is also of interest.
