Texas executes John Ramirez for the 2004 murder of a convenience store clerk | Execution | Texas | US News

TEXAS – A man who stabbed a Corpus Christi convenience store employee 29 times to death during a robbery has been executed in Texas. In 2004, employee Pablo Castro (46) came out to dispose of the store’s garbage. John Henry (38), who was waiting outside, brutally killed Pablo following grabbing $1.25 from him.

The suspect, who entered Mexico following the crime, was arrested three and a half years later. After the trial, he was found guilty and sentenced to death.

Henry’s complaint challenging the existing laws for the execution of the death penalty was ruled in his favor. The court allowed the priest to touch Henry’s body and read the holy book aloud during the execution. But the court rejected the request to avoid the death penalty.

On Wednesday, the punishment was carried out by injecting deadly poison into the veins. This is the third execution of the year in Texas and the 11th in the country.
