The flames started as a result of an engine failure.
A bus from the Peruvian company Sol caught fire when it was carrying a group of Venezuelans, whose final destination is presumed to be their return to the country.
The incident occurred while the transport unit was traveling along the North Pan-American Highway, in Sullana, Peru. According to reports, the vehicle was carrying a total of 64 migrants, including children and women, who left the city of Trujillo, and were heading towards the border area of Tumbes.
The passengers were at kilometer 33 of the Sullana to Talara highway, when an engine failure occurred. The bus was quickly engulfed in flames.
The driver stopped, because the fire had spread. People got off the bus, and “only a few recovered their suitcases and backpacks.”
Diario 2001 reported this and added that there were no injuries in the incident.
“Police agents called the firefighters of Company 43 of Sullana. Fire extinguishers arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames, “they explained.
