This partnership aims to develop BIM sourcing from local textile and agri-food manufacturers through a continuous import substitution process aimed at promoting local manufacturing. Thus, by 2025, BIM Morocco is committed to increasing the share of its Distributor Brand products “Made in Morocco” to reach 80% for agri-food products and 90% for textile products.
This initiative is part of the brand’s strategy, which makes local sourcing a major focus for development and promotes local production for all of its Private Label products. It is therefore aligned with the industrial strategy aimed at offering new outlets for local production, supporting the competitiveness of industrial operators and making the “Made in Morocco” label a marker of quality.
“The industrial and commercial sovereignty of the Kingdom is at the heart of government priorities, in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines. Today, we are signing an agreement for the development of local sourcing with the “BIM” group in order to secure a significant part of its supply from local producers,” said Mezzour. And to emphasize that “Made in Morocco” has all the potential to provide solutions to the group’s sourcing needs while respecting the brand’s quality standards. Our manufacturers have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to manufacture products that stand out for their exceptional quality”.
For his part, Dortluoglu explains that “the competitiveness of the hard discount model relies heavily on offering high quality products at low prices. Intelligent sourcing and cost control are therefore two crucial elements for the success of the model. Today, BIM stores offer more than 80% of products sourced in Morocco, and 51% of our private label products are “Made In Morocco”. With the support of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and within the framework of the implementation of this partnership agreement, we are going to increase this figure to 80% for agri-food products and 90% for textile products.
Under this agreement, the Ministry undertakes to facilitate BIM’s prospecting work through contact with the various national manufacturers. National operators and suppliers selected by BIM will also benefit from support to comply with the requirements and standards required.
