In the future, you will have to wait at least a year to meet PlayStation-exclusive games such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Marvel’s Spider-Man on PC.
This news was reported through an interview video between Julien Chiez, a YouTuber specializing in games, and Hermen Hulst, president of PlayStation Studio, released on the 4th. In the video, Hermen Hulst said, “Excluding live service games, the release interval for PlayStation Studio games on console and PC platforms will be at least one year.” Put simply, it will be at least a year before a PlayStation singleplayer exclusive is released to PC. The detailed reason for the difference of one year was not disclosed.
After the launch of Horizon Zero Dawn PC in 2020, Sony released Days Gone, God of War, and Spider-Man Remastered PC. Most PC versions didn’t come out until at least two years following they were released on consoles. However, as this cycle is getting shorter, there was an opinion that the PlayStation exclusive will be released on PC sooner. Hermann Hulst’s remarks seem to be conscious of this story.
However, as mentioned above, games provided as live services can be released at any time regardless of the aforementioned period. For reference, Sony has announced that it plans to release a total of 10 live service games by March 2026. Among them are The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn multiplayer titles.
