Daily brushing of our teeth is essential to maintaining them, but sometimes we make some unintentional mistakes that can do more harm than good.
So we address some of the common mistakes we make when brushing our teeth, as reported on the “Bright side” website:
1- Rinse the mouth immediately following brushing the teeth:
Rinsing the mouth right following brushing makes the cleaning less effective, because the water reduces the concentrated fluoride in the toothpaste.
Therefore, you should use a mouthwash with fluoride, to keep the enamel layer protected.
2- Not brushing the tongue:
To eliminate bad breath, brush your tongue, as it is an ideal environment for bacteria to breed.
3- Using floss a lot:
Flossing is an essential part of your oral hygiene routine, but its frequent use can cause gum infections.
4- Use an old toothbrush:
Using a toothbrush for a long time causes cavities, damage to the gums, and an increase in bacteria.
Maintaining brushing in a damp bath helps mold growth, so if you notice black spots on the bristles, replace them immediately.
5- Use one type of toothpaste:
When we feel comfortable using a certain toothpaste, we use it for long periods, but the microorganisms that live in your mouth can get used to it, and this reduces the effectiveness of the cleaning.
It is best to change the toothpaste every two to three months.
6- Brushing the teeth immediately following eating:
Brushing your teeth following eating helps prevent harmful bacteria, but this weakens the tooth enamel, so you should wait 30 to 60 minutes following eating.
