Research has shown that coffee lovers tend to live longer and have healthier hearts than their peers who don’t drink it daily.
Experts said that the benefits were for all types of coffee, which means that it is not only decaffeinated coffee drinkers who benefit from its effects, according to the newspaper “dailymail”.
All types of coffee have an important impact on heart health and survival rates, say researchers at the Baker Institute for Heart and Diabetes Research in Melbourne.
So they examined the data of 449,563 people in the UK who are regularly questioned regarding their lifestyle habits.
Participants between the ages of 40 and 69 completed questionnaires regarding how many cups of coffee they drank per day and which type of coffee they chose, eg instant (instant), ground or decaffeinated.
The results, published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, showed that 44 percent had instant coffee and 15 percent decaffeinated.
Drinking two to three cups a day of all types of coffee was associated with a lower rate of early death.
Those who drank this amount of ground coffee were 27 percent less likely to die early than those who didn’t drink coffee.
Meanwhile, decaffeinated coffee lovers had a 14 percent reduced risk, and those who drank coffee had a lower risk of heart disease, heart attacks and strokes.
This is because coffee beans contain more than 100 biologically active compounds and are likely behind the results.
Some have been shown to reduce inflammation and others to improve insulin sensitivity and boost metabolism.
“Ground, instant and decaffeinated coffee should be considered part of a healthy lifestyle,” said Professor and Cardiologist Peter Kistler.
Drinking both coffee and tea reduces heart disease risk, and this suggests that it may not be the drinks themselves that are behind the health benefits, but the behaviors associated with drinking coffee and tea, said Duane Mellor, a dietician at Birmingham Medical School.
Therefore, it is best to eat it without adding sugar and other calorie-rich additives.
In addition, excessive coffee consumption leads to dehydration, increased urination in the body, and tooth decay.
Previous research has shown that it reduces the risk of heart disease, heart failure and stroke, as well as extending life.
Experts believe that one of the mechanisms behind these findings is the presence of caffeine, which helps repair heart cells.
