The Galaxy A54 should opt for a 50 megapixel sensor while the Galaxy A53 had 64 megapixels on its main sensor.
Whether it makes sense in photography or not (the experts will tell you not), Samsung, like many other brands, has tended to add more megapixels to its smartphone cameras. The rumor also evokes a 200 megapixel sensor for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Against all expectations, for the Galaxy A54, the Suwon firm would take the opposite path.
This is what the Dutch site says Galaxy Club. According to their information, the Galaxy A54 would have a 50 megapixel sensor while the Galaxy A53 displayed 64 megapixels.
Fewer pixels is not necessarily worse
Unfortunately, the specialized media does not have more details on the main module of the A54. Remember that a sensor with fewer megapixels does not necessarily mean that the photos will be worse. It may even be the opposite. In 2022, it is not uncommon that in a range of phones, the mid-range is equipped with a good quality 50 megapixel while the entry will go to a slightly less good 64 megapixel.
Let’s add that at equal size, a sensor with fewer megapixels will tend to take less dark shots if you take photos in maximum definition, without merging the pixels between them. On the other hand, we can lose a little sharpness on a sensor with fewer pixels. Remember, in any case, that on normal shots, which take advantage of the pixel binning to output 12-megapixel photos, you won’t have to feel the difference. The quality or lack thereof will therefore depend on other specifications.
For the rest, we don’t yet know a lot regarding the Galaxy A54. Some rumors point to the lack of a depth sensor for portrait mode. We obviously expect that One UI 5 (Android 13) team this phone. Last year, the Galaxy A53 was released on March 25, 2022, so we can expect a similar schedule.
