Officials from the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc) investigate the murder of a man on the highway between Puerto Ordaz and Ciudad Bolívar.
The victim was identified as Amado Salazar, 45 years old, who was traveling along said highway on Friday, September 30.
Salazar was driving a truck when he was intercepted by a group of unknown individuals, who fired their firearms at the vehicle with the intention of making it stop.
The man died at the scene following being shot. His body was transferred to the morgue of the Ruiz y Páez University Hospital, in Ciudad Bolívar.

A commission for the Coordination of the Investigation of Crimes Against Persons investigates the causes of the attack and they do not rule out robbery as a motive for the act.
Presumably, it might be highway pirates who shot at them to strip him of the merchandise he was transporting in the truck.
Sources linked to the case revealed that the deceased was a native of Anzoátegui state but often traveled to Ciudad Guayana to carry cargo.
Survivor
Salazar was traveling with his son, a 16-year-old teenager, who was able to survive the attack. Supposedly, the strangers would have approached the truck to check it when it stopped and attacked the minor.
The criminals would have fled following not finding valuables. Then, the young man went to the police module located at kilometer 50 to alert the authorities.
