“If you have received an email/SMS asking for your email address, phone number, password, or payment associated with your account, it probably does not come from us!”, warns the company on Twitter. This scam, well known to the company, is a real problem.

Called “phishing” or “hameçonnage” in French, this technique consists of crooks to pretend to be an official site or institution by faithfully reproducing the graphic identity of a site. They then push you to enter your identifiers or bank details in order to recover your data and in the worst case, empty your account in banque.

“We are actively working to combat phishing attempts and identify these organisations malicious“, further specifies Netflix.

When in doubt always think look at the url address of the site you are on. For the streaming platform, if the link in an SMS directs you to a site that ends with example-example.netflix.com, then you have come to the right place.
