“Too many people do not realize the consequences, namely a real sanction”

Next week, controls on fly tipping will be strongly reinforced in Flanders as part of the sixth “Week once morest litter and fly tipping”. This is reported by Mooimakers, a cooperation initiative between the waste management company OVAM, the recycling organization Fost Plus and the Flemish Association of Towns and Municipalities (VVSG).

For the sixth edition of the control week, 193 municipalities have committed to increasing controls between October 3 and 9. Additional officers will be deployed for this purpose. Last year, this action gave rise to 3,001 SAC findings (municipal administrative sanctions), 2,391 citations and 340 reports.

“Unfortunately, we still see too many people who do not realize the consequences of abandoning waste or uncontrolled dumping, namely a real penalty”, says Flemish Minister for the Environment, Zuhal Demir (N-VA). “By focusing on different forms of control and clear communication, we want this week of action to be decisive once more. »
