Decisive days in front of Lebanon in the file demarcation of the border with Israel

Beirut: The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, said, on Saturday, that Lebanon is facing crucial days in the file of demarcating the maritime borders with the “Israeli enemy.”

Nasrallah pointed out in a televised speech broadcast by local media that Lebanon officially received the proposal to address the file is a very important step, noting that it comes following months of political, field and media struggle.

He considered that “if a good result is reached, this will open great (economic) and promising prospects for the Lebanese people.”

Nasrallah added, “We have a treasure and we cannot wait for aid from abroad, in light of the suffering of many countries from difficult conditions, including European countries.”

The statements of the Lebanese officials did not give details regarding the content of the message, but Mikati had previously announced on September 22 last that “tangible progress” had been made in the border demarcation negotiations.

Lebanon and Israel are quarreling over a sea rich in oil and gas in the Mediterranean, with an area of ​​860 square kilometers, and the United States is mediating indirect negotiations between them to settle the dispute and demarcate the border.

In another context, Nasrallah said that “the last presidential election session (Thursday) confirmed that no single party has a majority in Parliament.”

He added that the session “stressed the necessity of consultation between the political forces in the next stage to reach an agreement on the option of a (president) who would have a majority in the parliament.”
