Malappuram ∙ Facebook post of the local Muslim League leader of Malappuram in praise of Speaker A.N.Shamsir. According to the post, Shamseer came to the rescue when the KSRTC Swift bus went on strike on its way from Bengaluru. Shaukatali Karuwarakund, former panchayat president and league leader of Karuwarakund, shared the experience on social media.
The note reads:
KSRTC Swift Deluxe bus breaks down in Karnataka; Speaker Shamseer was the savior of the passengers. The other day, I went to Bengaluru with my son and returned to Kottayam in a brand new model KSRTC Swift Deluxe bus coming via Mysore Goodalur Nilambur. But when it reached the Mysore stand at around 7 pm following half the journey, the brakes of the bus went off, the lights did not light up and one of the front tires got punctured.
The driver and conductor were helpless and the passengers were worried (myself and Mon included). As Mysore is Dussehra, no other modes of travel are possible due to congestion. All other passengers, including women and children, had to reach the country urgently. Uncertainty continued for two hours, not knowing what to do. In a sudden sense, the information regarding personal relationship only, hon. Kerala Speaker was called and informed. He called back in half an hour. Through the Minister of the Department, it was also informed that the Department is arranging for the replacement of passengers and a mechanic to repair the bus.
Suddenly the Karnataka State Transport officials reached the spot and met our bus crew and made things easy. All the passengers in two buses were sent away safely. A KSRTC official on duty and the driver and conductor of the damaged bus joined the passengers and co-operated well. Special thanks to Speaker A.N.Shamsir….
