NSC Standing Committee held… “The interval between North Korean missile provocations has been shortened… Strong condemnation”

This morning, a standing committee of the National Security Council was held in connection with North Korea’s ballistic missile launch, presided over by Kim Seong-han, head of the National Security Office.

The presidential office said in a press release that the standing members of the NSC strongly condemn North Korea’s continued ballistic missile launch and decided to work closely with the international community, including the United States.

In particular, the NSC Standing Committee took note of the fact that North Korea fired four ballistic missiles in a week until today, the Armed Forces Day, shortening the provocation interval and firing from multiple locations, and deplored North Korea’s focus on provocations even though the public’s livelihood is critical. The presidential office said.

The NSC Standing Committee also said that on Armed Forces Day as an opportunity, the ROK Army and the ROK-U.S. alliance decided to demonstrate the combined defense capabilities and will of the alliance and maintain a strong readiness posture to respond promptly and effectively to North Korean provocations.

The presidential office explained that President Yun Seok-yeol was immediately informed of the North’s missile launch, and today’s meeting was attended by Chief of Staff Kim Seong-han, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Kim Seung-gyeom.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said today that it has detected two short-range ballistic missiles fired from the Sunan area in Pyongyang from 6:45 to 7:03 a.m. into the East Sea.
